TIM ALLISON
December's Playtrekker of the month has gone far above and beyond, spending
a lot of time, money and energy in helping fellow Playtrekkers get ahold of
the clearance priced 2006 Hallmark Trek ornaments. There've been so many
nominations, I don't think there can be any doubt that the December
Playtrekker of the Month is Tim Allison!!! Tim has been a friend to Playtrek for many years now. This time, though, he has gone way above and beyond the call of duty. He spearheaded an effort to
scoop up as many of the clearanced 2006 Trek ornaments he could in his area
(and a few outside his area), bought them, and made sure they had happy homes
with Playtrekkers. All at cost only. In fact, due to tardiness in getting
this announcement done, nominations continued into January, and it has probably
set a record for the most POTM nominations ever! That's what a tremendous
job Tim has done and it is for these reasons and so many more that he is
proudly awarded the December Playtrekker of the Month.
GREG REED (aka Kurr)
Greg has been sharing the joy with fellow Playtrekkers by giving away cool stuff, free of charge. Would it even o-Kurr to him to be any other way? No. Greg is a repeat winner, which goes to show the kindness he has shown over the years. Most recently, he went out of his way to help his fellow Playtrekkers with free stuff and bonuses and bringing smiles to kid's
faces. He's showed the true spirit of Playtrekkiness. He may be a Klingon, but his heart is pure tribble. It is for these reasons and so much more that Greg (aka Kurr) is proudly awarded the November Playtrekker of the Month.
KARL RUFF
This month's winner has a long history of helping out fellow Playtrekkers and in particular, he recently helped another get a rare figure at his cost only. For this generosity, the October Playtrekker of the Month is Karl Ruff.
Although Karl doesn't speak out much on Playtrek these days, he's a long time and well respected member. He has always been friendly and quick to join in on the fun of Playtrek. Moreover, he has often gone out of his way to help fellow Playtrekkers with finding Star Trek goodies. Over the years
he's quietly done so with very little public fanfare. Well, it's time that's changed. It is for these reasons and so much more that Karl is proudly awarded the October Playtrekker of the Month.
PETE KAVANAGH
This month's winner has been quietly helping out fellow Playtrekkers with at-cost or even completely free toys, including some very rare items. Pete has been around Playtrek for quite a while now and has won the POTM honor several times now, generally as a result of his generosity with
fellow Playtrekkers. Lately, he's been helping some overseas Playtrekkers acquire some hard to find items at cost only. And he's even bought and
given away some figures that other Playtrekkers were wanting. Very cool of him to donate both his time and money to making others happy. Pete is
a long time friend to Playtrek and hopefully he'll be around for a long time to come. It is for these reasons and so much more that Pete is
awarded the September Playtrekker of the Month.
ANDREW LEEDER
Andrew really was very kind in offering several sets of the rare and now quite hard to find international Crusher and 7 of 9 figures to fellow
Playtrekkers for a quite reasonable price. It was very generous of him to make this offer, considering the list had just been talking about them
and they could have sold for a lot more on eBay. Very kind of him to help out others and it was very much in the Playtrek spirit. Thanks
Andrew! It is for these reasons and so much more that Andrew from Down Under is awarded the August Playtrekker of the Month.
RICK WHITELOCK
Rick went out of his way to make some very hard to obtain Star Trek exclusives available to Playtrekkers. In particular, he bought many sets of "Mirror Mirror" figures to get the exclusive Marlena figure only available at the San Diego Comic Con. And he's been going out of his way to get the other exclusives as well. And although he has a business to run, he always keeps things at a reasonable cost. All this, and not to mention his meticulous packing and lightning fast shipping. Rick has been a very long time friend to Playtrek (remember Flashback Janeway!) and it's always very much a pleasure to have him in our midst. We are all very grateful to you, Rick. It is for these reasons and so much more that Rick is awarded the July Playtrekker of the Month.
There were no nominations for June, so there's no winner for this month. But, in a larger sense, everyone on Playtrek is a winner.
DON SIMPKINS
Wow! What can one say about the May Playtrekker of the Month? He went out of his way to share some new and hard to find Battlestar Galactica toys. For such generosity, the May Playtrekker of the Month is... Don Simpkins (aka SouthPol10). Don has been a bit of an unspoken hero as of late, quietly helping others out with toys. He helped several people with the Hallmark Enterprise-A ornament last Christmas (I gave you my heart) and more recently he's been sharing the Battlestar Galactica joy. He's been *giving* away several of these toys or selling at cost. Wow! Very helpful and generous to fellow Playtrekkers and a true display of the Playtek spirit. It is for these reasons and so much more that Don is awarded the May Playtrekker of the Month.
KELLY HOFFMAN
Recently, after several Playtrekkers were asking where they could get the long out of production Playtrek merchandise, Kelly designed a cood new Playtrek logo and set it up with cafepress so that members could once again
get some cool Playtrek items (except, of course, those super-ultra-rare Playtrek binoculars). Added to that, she went out of her way to compile a set of Shatner related shows of late and distribute DVDs out to fellow members who requested them. She shared a lot of her time and expertise, just for the love of Playtrek. Kelly has been a long time friend to Playtrek, including but not limited to writing a book on Star Trek toys, hosting a Playtrekfest, and just being a kind and generous Playtrekker. She is a good friend and we are better for having her on the list. It is for these reasons and so much more that Kelly is awarded the April Playtrekker of the Month.
MICHAEL HEINTZ and IVY HEFLER
There were two nominees for the March Playtrekker of the Month this time around. All are deserving but like Highlander, there can be only . . . Waitaminute! There seems to have been a breach of the space-time continuum.
In a strange convergence of events and the fact that the POTM committee voted on the two nominees and came to a solid tie, there are TWO WINNERS for the March Playtrekker of the Month. For selling off her collection of out
of production Playtrek merchandise at a fair price and for always providing fast, up-to-date information on his website, the March Playtrekkers of the Month are Michael Heintz AND Ivy Hefler. Michael has long maintained a website showcasing the latest and greatest in Star Trek merchandise. He's always willing to share his collection and new information and even goes out of his way to get items early so he can photograph them and put them on his site. Just recently, he went to great lengths to find out the latest Hallmark Trek offerings and put up grainy
photos -- the best he could get -- for all to enjoy. Mike has stuck with Playtrek through thick and thin, which is commendable to be sure. Ivy has been a friend to Playtrek for many years. Although in recent years her collecting interest appears to be waning and she's selling off parts of her collection, she has retained the Playtrek spirit and offered up items at a fair price, often for free, and with fast, friendly service. More recently, several new
Playtrekkers were looking for the long out-of-production Playtrek merchandise. Ivy offered up these items from her own personal collection at no charge whatsoever. Thanks go out to both Michael and Ivy for representing the Playtrek spirit. It is for these reasons and so much more that both Michael and Ivy are awarded the March Playtrekker of the Month.
PETER HETRICK
DOUG MEACHAM
The February Playtrekker of the Month is Peter Hetrick
January 2006
For all his unselfish hard work this past December in running the Secret Spock program, the January Playtrekker of the Month is Doug Meacham. Doug is a multiple time POTM winner, with this being the third time he has taken the honor. (Previously he won for January 2002 and December 2003). Obviously he's been on Playtrek for a while, taking an active role and spreading the joy. This past December, he voluntarily headed up the Secret Spock gift exchange again. This is no easy task as behind the scenes he has to keep track of who is sending gifts where and more importantly, if people are actually following through with their commitments. Doug has certainly been a friend to Playtrek for many years and we hope he continues to stay with us for a long time. Thanks Doug! It is for these reasons and so many more that Doug is awarded the January Playtrekker of the Month.
